Golden Hour at Banana Point

Sunset surf sessions near Taghazout, Morocco

There’s something about sunset at Banana Point that slows everything down.

The waves soften, the light turns gold and suddenly nobody is in a rush to get out of the water. Surfers sit outside waiting for one last wave while seagulls drift over the point, catching the evening air above the Atlantic. Out on the horizon, ships sat quietly against the fading light while a lone stand up paddle boarder drifted across the bay between sets.

Why Banana Point Feels Different

This was one of those classic November evenings in Taghazout where the light stayed soft until the very last minute. Long mellow waves rolling through, offshore winds brushing the faces, and the kind of session where everyone ends up staying out longer than they meant to.

Banana Point has always been one of our favourite places during surf season in Morocco. It’s not just the waves, it’s everything around them too. The way the last light of sunset settled into Aourir, birds returning to the cliffs, cameras coming out between sets and everyone sharing those quiet end-of-day moments in the ocean. Then the full moon turning heads before darkness finally rolled in.

Whether you come here to surf, shoot photos, watch the sunset or simply slow down for a while, evenings at Banana Point always seem to leave people wanting one more day in Morocco. These November sunset sessions are exactly why so many surfers return to Morocco every winter.
